8 sets of (1200 w/60" rest+ 400) w/2:30 rest. Wedding workout round two, outdoor edition. The thunderstorms held off this morning and the wind stayed light for the pouring rain but once the precipitation cleared up it went from 6-8 mph to 10-13 mph. Had Landes there to commiserate in the weather with. I couldn't remember what I split the last time I did this workout, though compared to an indoor track workout it probably wouldn't have mattered anyway. Aimed for around 10k pace on the 1200's and closer to 3k pace on the 400s. The first 3-4 sets were a breeze as Evan and I traded off. 3:41.1, 66.3/3:36.3, 67.5/3:37.8, 66.3/3:36.3, 66.2. He was starting to get dropped after the first half, and especially so on the 400's. He tried to tough it out but I am much further along in training than he is at this point so he called it after the 6th set. I appreciated the company nonetheless. 3:35.9, 65.6/3:37.2, 66.6. Once Evan stepped off I could tell the lactic build up was gradually becoming an issue, especially when finishing the 400's but I had a good one going and wasn't going to cut it short at this point. 3:34.4, 65.7/3:35.1, 64.6. That last 400 started off in 31 into the wind and man did I struggle on the homestretch.
