18'/15'/12' broken tempo w/ 5' steady between. Was much smarter this morning compared to the last BT I did a few weeks ago. Just like last time the way out was mostly downhill so cruising at 5:10 pace was not too hard. the other two portions were a completely different story. went down a massive hill at the beginning of the 15' and knew id have to bear down when I had to come back up. total of about 150 ft of gain over the 15', 70 ft on the 12'. legs were feeling it but kept the steady around 6 flat pace. hit the rollers the best I could on the last 12' but never felt like I was racing to hit a pace, just had to focus a little harder and maintain good mechanics. 18' [5:12/5:09/5:12/.47-2:24] 15' [5:18/5:20/.82- 4:21] 12' [5:24/5:15/.26-1:20]. Felt strong today, with the rolling hills and the loose gravel surface I feel comfortable saying that the splits would have easily been 10 sec faster over the 15' and 12' portions.
