Notes

Not my day. 4 mile progression w/6' rest+4x1200 w/400 jog. I had to turn in my keys so I didn't have access to the track. Did the warm-up/progression on 6th street and the midland valley trail, and the intervals around the new U. There were a few miscalculations this morning. First and foremost, the heat was like nothing I have had to deal with in a very long time and I overextended myself too early and suffered because of it. feel of 82 degrees and a 63 dp. The second workout breaking mistake came in the progression. I thought I was seeing the current mile pace but it was, in fact, the average mile pace so when I thought I was running a 5:43, it ended up being 5:22. The progression (which wasn;t really one) went 5:52, 5:22, 5:25, 5:18. I was gassed following the progression and was in dread of how the 1200s were going to go, but figured any hard effort was better than none. surprisingly opened with a 3:46, which was close to HM pace. The goal was to go from Hm to 10k pace. However, I knew I wasn't going to be running 3:30's at the end of this. I was dying even more as the workout went on and ran 3:49. tried to be happy to be under 3:50 but I was in a funk, and I hated what I was doing to myself. I'm not saying a positive outlook would have been a game changer this morning but it sure as hell would have helped me endure the shitstorm better. 3:52 for #3 and 4. I honestly thought I was going to run 4:00 on the last rep and when I finished the mild surprise had me entertaining the notion of going for a 5th. reality quickly set in though and I knew it wouldn't do any good to thrash myself for another 3-4 min in the dalapidated shape i was in.
