Notes

14x800 w/400 jog (2'), suggested pace was 2:20-24 which seemed just fine considering how I feel. I felt decent on the warm up but was running very slow, I began to worry I would be feeling lethargic by the time I toed the line. The first one was about where I was expecting and set the goal of trying to drop a second per rep to build up some momentum early in a long interval set. 2:24.4, 2:23.2, 2:22.1, 2:21.3, 2:20.3. I was coming through 400 in 70-71 for all of them but the 8-10 mph wind on the back stretch (especially on the second lap) would slow me up and I would usually positive split. 2:21.8, 2:20.1, 2:20.8, 2:22.2, 2:21.2. I actually miscounted at some point during those and thought I had only done 7 when I had actually done 9, it was a pleasant surprise when I started to feel rough. 2:21.6, 2:21.5, 2:21.9, 2:22.0. The wind picked up (as its supposed to through out the day) on the last 2-3 reps and I was really gritting on the back stretch and trying to hold form and not lean into it too much. The 400m jog was almost perfect where I would feel just good enough to start again after 350m. Now that it's said and done, these VO2max intervals are probably just what I need to mix up training and get my track legs back.
