Greenville News Run Downtown 5k, 15:04, 2nd. pretty nice day though a little muggy; mid-50's light wind. austin was on a different level for this one (ended up running 14:14) so I let him roll and just went in with the goal of running hard. I didnt wear my GPS watch and there were no mile markers so I ran blind. In a way it was freeing because I could go in and "just run hard" on the other hand there were no marks to keep track of my progression and distance remaining. The start was down hill for about 300m and just had to keep control of my body. after a long 1200m climb up Main St. Frank and I turned towards what was assumed to be the general area of the mile and I put in a surge for the middle downhill mile. at times i felt a little out of sorts, but it was more mechanically as I am feeling decently strong at this point in the build-up. the last mile was the worse, the first half of it was a continuous uphill and I had to form check to keep from slouching or throwing my arms around. made the turn to come back on Main St. and knew whatever time I had lost on the last uphill I could get some of it back on the 600m downhill finish. Still felt awkward trying to kick. if I had to guess I would probably say I even split most of the race as there didnt seem to be any significant lapses in focus. good effort to start off the season.
