Notes

Boulder Track Series #2: 1500m. 4:09.38, 5th place. The field was very small, just 5 of us including marathon olympian Jake Riley and a couple of guys with 3:4x's PBs. I was outmatched but my race plan was to just keep myself connected for as long as I could. I mistimed my warm up and had to rush through a few quick strides and drills before the gun. We were out hot and even at the back of the pack I came through 300 in 46 and 400 in 62. I knew I would have to surge to keep from settling in too much but by 700 I was coming unglued from the pack. I tried to keep the pressure on as I came through in 2:08-09 but I knew I would be fighting an uphill battle. Lap 3 has been the bane of my mile-ing existence but in this case, despite trying to push, I was stuck at pace. 1200 in 3:16-17. I was focused, I just couldn't seem to break my rhythm and ended up running 67-68s all the way home following a fast opening lap. The time is not too impressive but I finished knowing that was what I had this evening so I can be happy about the effort. This is just getting the ball rolling. Hopefully not getting too ahead of myself, but there should be a good half in October and hushed words about a top-tier marathon in December.
