3x 2 mile (1st @ HMP, 2nd @10k) w/6’ rest. Last workout of the spring, from here it’s just getting rested. Did it out at Mohawk on the 3 mile road loop. On the warm up a thunderstorm rolled in and I hustled back to my car and contemplated doing it later today in jerseyville. But the thought of doing a quality workout after a 6.5 hour car ride sounded terrible. Started the first one pretty comfortably and the rain let up to a strong drizzle about half way through. Surges for the 2nd mile and it came relatively smooth. 5:07.4/4:54.0 (10:01.5). The rest was generous but I was told take what I need (between 5-6’) not what I think I can do. Walked around for the 6’ waiting to start the next. I felt like I was getting a little tight from the rest so when I started the second I wanted to be sure I was goin fast enough. Ended up a too quick, running 5:01.4. I couldn’t shift quite as well off the faster pace but still ran a respectable 4:56.1 (9:57.2). I was feeling it at the end of the 2nd rep. Again I felt a little tight off the rest so I worked the first few minutes and had a nice cushion. I actually tired to let up without killing my momentum going into the acceleration. Ran 5:00.8. With another storm front rolling in, the temp dropped and the wind picked up as I came out of the woods for the final half mile. I bore down and ran hard closing well in 4:53.3. Hay is in the barn, for better or worse my body of work since January will be on display in Duluth in 10 days.
