NCAA steeplechase prelim. 8th 9:23. Today was bittersweet. I got my chance to run the steeple at the national championships but was met with an unfortunate fate. I was the inside position so the first two laps I was right on the rail in 4-5 place. At the 1000 I went around to get better positioning after the start finish and on the next barrier as I was hurdling the person behind me I think it was the Albion guy, stepped on my shoe and essentially pinned me to the barrier in mid air. I hit the ground really hard and then rolled a couple times to the side so I didn't get trampled when I got up the pack was about 40-50 m ahead of me and I could have sprinted to the pack or just dropped out but instead I made a smarter decision to build my way back up to the pack for the next couple laps gradually catching everyone. With three laps ago Dawson Miller made a move at the start finish line and the pack started rolling right before I could reattach myself. the last two laps were really difficult because I had to try to kick on my own at the same time my legs were giving out on me I was limping just a little bit and struggled to get over the last few water jumps. I fought hard through out the race and did not give up which I am most proud of. With how hard I fell it would have been understandable to just drop out but I committed to continue to compete with everything I had. Today was the last track race of my college career and as disappointed as I am with the outcome I am proud of the perseverance and heart that I gave out on the track.
