Notes

6x800 w/450 jog; 5' rest; 4x200 w/200 jog. It snowed overnight and I didn't want to slip along potentially icy sidewalks on an easy run. seemed like a good morning to head inside for some intervals. I woke up feeling better than yesterday but my sinus was still giving me grief. I actually planned on doubling yesterday but my nose was so runny and I blew my nose so much I chapped my face and that put a damper on my spirits. I had a little bit of anxiety before starting to 800s, I didn't necessarily have the marathon-legs excuse anymore and I was debating if it was a good idea if I was still dealing with a little cold. I thought 2:22-2:25 would be sufficient but I was more keen on putting in a good, not race-like, effort. 2:20.9 (70/70) for the first and I was pleasantly surprised. 2:19.0 (69/70), 2:19.9 (70/69) for the next two and I was still feeling like I was hitting a maintainable pace, though I knew it would get a little tougher in the back half. 2:18.0 (69/69), 2:18.6 (68/70). My breathing was strong, but with every deep breath, I was drawing in stinging air through my nose and mouth. 2:16.8 (68/68) for the final rep. I was pretty happy with those 800's. I took 5' to put on my spikes and do a couple of short accelerations before the 200's. I just wanted a nice strong stride, and work on long term adaptation back tpo spikes, and a more speed-efficient stride. 30.3, 29.9 for the first two. I hadnt run a sub-30 in a while, but man that felt easy. I didnt press any harder the next two and managed to cruise to 29.6, 29.7. Maybe my speed was reawakened when I realized Erik Sowinski (1:44.5 800 man) had come into the arena and was beginning his warm up.
