5x 1.5 miles w/ half mile float recovery. Started down at Tulsa Runner and Kaylin Picked me up following the cool down around the Gathering Place. Had a friendly 5-6 mph tailwind most of the way and it wasn't too cold, only 36 degrees so I was able to run in half tights and a quarter zip. Started the first rep off with the intention to run on feel and not check my watch so I wouldn't feel forced into anything. 5:09.1 through the mile felt super easy and picked it up towards the end closing in 2:26.0. The steady float jogs were a lot easier than I was anticipating, felt more like 7:00 pace than sub-6. The middle 3 reps were pretty consistent and I was pleased with how easy sub 5 pace was coming. 7:22.2(4:54.0/2:28.2), 7:22.2 (4:55.8/2:26.4), 7:22.6 (4:55.2/2:27.4). I would press at times but for the majority of the morning, I was in control mechanically and mentally. Going into the last rep I want to close a little faster to cap it off on a high note; 7:19.1 (4:53.8/2:25.3). Float jogs were as follows: 3:00.4, 2:57.8, 2:56.5, 2:55.1, 2:54.4. Very happy with this morning, I think taking off the prescribed paces and just letting the cards fall where they may is a great strategy to get my speed back. I want to run faster and without the constraints of marathon specificity, I feel like that's achievable.
