Notes
USATF Half Marathon Championships, 24th, 68:10. Let fine in the warm up, anxiety actually was pretty low, I’d been feeling good the past few days and slept well so I was confident on the line. I knew the pace would go out hard but I wasn’t expecting to get stuck behind the women’s field in the first 200m. Never could get on the main chase pack but I was picking people off left and right from mile 2 to 7. Once I got to 8 I still wasn’t feeling bad but the hills were wreaking havoc on my pacing and were wearing on my legs. I would try to surge while in no mans land and sure to find myself running uphill at the same time. I never had contact and that was the main downer about today. I ran a decent race, but just not a good one. Challenging humidity and rolling hills may not be the recipe for a PR but I sure and hell felt better at St Louis which is a little discouraging. Finished strong but it was a case of too little too late, especially after getting blow up the last (seemingly endlesss) climb over the last bridge.
