Arrived at the venue about an hour before race time. It was really hot, tried to stay in the shade before the race started. Warmed up and went to the start. Sunny, clear blue sky with a temperature of 25C with Humidex of 32C. Race started out in the community of Carlton Place abd when out into the country with a turn around at 5 Km. Water stations were at 2.5 k, 5 k and of course the 7.5 k on the turn around. I missed the first water station as there were a lot of 5 k runners blocking the tables on the turn around for their race but I was carrying water so drank my own. Mangaed Ok the first 4 km but was starting to feel the effects of the heat. Took water and accidently gatoraid at the 5 k station but had to stomach issues with the gatoraid. started to slow down over the 6-7 km. Took my water at 7 k and at the 7.5 k water station drank one and threw one over me which seem to make me feel better for about a kilometer. Walked through the water stations. Took my own water and walked a short distance at about 8.25 k. Was able to pick up the pace in the last kilometer and finish strong. Finished 27/58 overall, 9/33 females and 2/4 in age group.
