Came in looking for 5:30s pretty much and did just that. Started at the absolute back of the elite corral so I'm sure my gun time is way slower.

First mile was pretty much effortless. Biggest mistake of the day though was checking my watch through the race. GPS was saying I was running anywhere from 5:15-5:22 then I'd hit the split and was nowhere close to that and that mentally hurt pretty bad. Once the effort really started to sink in at about mile 3, I realized just how unaccustomed to the feeling I am right now. I knew I wasn't hurting THAT bad, but pushing past the point I was at felt awful. Then got caught by Dan Lathrop at the base of the incline at about 3.5mi and thought perfect, I'll just latch on and we'll cruise from here. Then he threw a surge in right after we came off the incline and that broke me till we turned onto Michigan Ave. Survived the incline to Columbus and told myself i could go all out for 200m, that's doable. Then started dry heaving BAD the last 100m or so. Prob cost me about 10sec. Barely made it to the line before i couldn't move forward anymore.

Today was about finding the spot i need to get back to being at 2x a week at least. Getting really sick a few weeks ago really threw a wrench in today, but idk if sub 27 would've been in the cards anyway. Just need some consistent, steady work through the Spring and Summer and that momentum should have me in a better spot a year from now.
