Went for a long run with Jake. I wanted to do 10 or 11 but ended up going back early. I felt like I was pushing myself for most of the run and about 4.5 miles in I told Jake I felt like I couldn't go any faster. And that was only 7:15 pace or so. I guess the week made me sore for today? I also had the hike and lifted yesterday so could have been a factor but probably just too many long-ish (for my current shape) runs this week. Once Jake and I separated and I started heading towards home I actually started to feel a little better. With a little less than 3 miles to go I started feeling better and was able to pick up the effort. I was focusing a lot more consciously on form which I think was helping. I was actually feeling really good by the time I had about 2 miles to go, and I thought about adding on at the end, but then I thought about how I felt earlier and decided to just end the run on a high note. Still a decent distance at about 8 and a half miles, so longer than any runs this week by a bit. About 45 miles on the week, which is slightly more than last week and with one day completely off, is still pretty good. Looking to carry the momentum into next week.
