Appleman Duathlon - Run #2

Worked real hard on the bike, but for the last minute I chilled, stood and stretched. The dismount still felt super weird. I felt like a big rubber band. It was a strange sensation running after that. But once I put my bike away and started running on the beach, it quickly went away.

I felt gassed but knew I had to push early on since I wouldn't be able to later. Still, I don't think I pushed as much as I could have. 5:47 was good but not great. Made another push on the road before the trail. Trail was a complete mess as expected. Went through the marshlands, I mean fields, before getting to the trail. That was a slog but didn't last too long. Trail was better in that the ground was firmer, but worse in that the rocks really limited speed. I smashed through the mud where I could but some places, especially once the hill started, were just littered with rocks. Pushed best I could on the hill until I got to the road. Giant downhill on the road so I was able to recover a bit, then another big push for the last half-mile flat to the finish.

Despite a couple hiccups in the race, I am still quite happy with how it went. And it was really fun! This whole run-bike-run thing is pretty cool. Hoping to do more of these events. And now I want a tri bike :D
