Notes

Mountain biking with Colin, Chris and Sierra!! Second time MTB'ing ever and first time with anybody that knows what they're doing. In short it was a lot of fun.

I started out quite cautious and nervous. I didn't want another repeat of what happened last time. And still not used to everything coming up so fast around the trail. So so many roots and rocks. I went very slow to not hit anything scary at speed. Walked quite a bit of sections.

But as we kept going, I started to gain more and more confidence, and started getting used to navigating this style of trail. I was able to go a little faster and successfully navigate more and more. We then got to less rooty, more flowy trails, and these were a ton of fun. Without obstacles it was much easier to feel confident and go faster. Back onto rooty trails, I still felt a lot more confident than I did in the beginning, or at least a lot more at ease.

I am now very excited to do this again. I want to come back and conquer trails I previously tip-toed. And generally gain a lot more skill and confidence. And of course I'm already researching different bikes I now want, to replace my landfill saved free bike. I probably won't do much if at all the rest of the fall, with so little time left, but I will start thinking about how I can fit this in with running in a way that is complementary. I may have a more MTB-focused, less running-focused "season". We'll see.
