Knock Knolls

Notes

And some days you just have it.

That is the crazy thing about distance running. Without any sort of rhyme or reason, some days you just get out the door and the stars align and you feel great the whole run. Today was one of those days.

Finally got to catch up on sleep last night and have a lazy day most of the day (day off of work thankfully). Got out the door around 5:30 in the afternoon, weather was perfect- sunny breezy and 73 out. Goal was to try and do my first 2 hour run in over a year (don't think I've done one since sometime during the spring senior year). Went from my house to Diz's, then to Knock Knolls from there, 2 loops there, then back to school the normal route out to knock knolls, back from school to my house, then added on a bit to make sure it was over 20. My legs just felt good today, plain and simple. Felt smooth and easy- no soreness, breathing was easy, I felt like a "robot"- just one foot in front of the other without having to try. Split a mile on my way to Diz's and it was 6:08 and held that pace till I got to knock knolls and then picked it up in the woods. Loops were muddy but still went 20:30 for the first loop but varied the second loop to avoid the mud but added on the so the time equivalent was the same. Got some water really quick and headed back towards school. At that point I felt good and was starting to roll a bit- split the mile from the park and it was 5:53 so I knew I was moving pretty good. Got back to school and the mile back to my house was 5:51, then added on a bit just in case I overestimated part of the run and I wanted to make sure I did a full 20. Mapped it out after and I was just over at 20.1.

Overall- great long run. First 2 hour run in forever and I ended up going 20 at 6:03 pace and felt good doing it. I won't pretend that everyday is going to be like this but its nice to know that every once in a while, things can click and I can have a great run like today. One step closer to where I want to be. Added bonus- 151.8 lbs after the run, working my way back under 150, little by little.
