Finally got a chance to jump in the pool and go to work. Did my old super tough workout, and man, it was tough.

20 minute tempo, 5 minute jog rest, 10 min hard (simulate 2 mile), 5 min jog rest, 10 min hard, 5 min jog rest, 5 min hard (simulate mile), 2 min jog rest, 5 min hard, 2 min jog rest, 4x2:00 allout (simuate 800s) w/ 1 min jog rest between, then 10 minute cooldown. First 55 minutes of the workout were done in the pool (so right before the first mile effort) before we got kicked out, then did the rest on the elliptical. It was solid workout. Started hitting the tempo hard 5 minutes into it and really got going. While in the pool, I couldn't get my heart rate much up past 180, if barely to 180- but my legs were getting a great workout. It was really tough being in the pool pushing through but I felt like I was getting a great workout, especially on the 2 miles. Jumped on the elliptical right after for the others- theses were tough. heart rate spiked and i was defintely working my heart way more than my legs. Averaged 190-205 heart rate the whole time, and just in general, got in a great workout. After I was done, legs and lungs were cashed. Its the equivalent to running of 16 miles total, and it went really well. Feel like I hit both endurance and speed work today- nothing like hitting the pool and getting that extra leg turnover.
