Notes

1st (and probably last) KHLCM (Kris Hartner Last Chance Marathon). Route was 13.5 1.9 mile loops through Cress Creek with the goal of getting Kris sub 3, which we accomplished! Had a decent group to start- Kris/Nick/Dan/myself went the full marathon, Yonny made it past 22, Marisa to 21, Brady to almost 20, and Jake Mac/Nolan did the first half with us so a good group of 9 to start and a solid group of 7 for most of it. Bit windy and chilly but not bad once we got moving. Was a bit nervous about my arch based on yesterday but tried to do a decent amount of pre-work and that seemed to help (plus put a Currex insole in and that helped as well). Chilled in the back the first 5 miles dealing with the arch discomfort but that disappeared by mile 7, felt good the rest of the way and ran in the front most of the rest of the way. Aerobically felt easy, I think I had stressed myself out a bit going in based on the arch/chafing issues the last few days but had 0 issues today- aerobically felt comfortable, body felt smooth, a few twinges here and there but nothing major, finished feeling no worse for the wear. We took it one mile at a time, didn't fluctuate much- most miles were between 6:40 and 6:52. Honestly could have probably gone 30 miles if that was the goal for the day- finished feeling pretty comfortable and not achy anywhere. Expected to feel worse but I'm also used to getting progressively faster on long runs so never really had that hurt/ache I'm used to because the pace stayed relaxed. Took 3 maurtens total (45,90,120) and some water but felt fine nutrition wise. Really cool experience running with everyone (although the route was super boring). Felt aerobically very smooth and happy that my body handled the marathon well. Technically it was an official USATF certified race so this is a marathon PR and a BQ so that's cool as well!
