Run at practice doing a mini-workout to test things out before St. Pattys day this weekend. 2 miles easy into 2 mile hard tempo, 1+ mile cooldown. Ran w/ Connor, legs felt decent enough to start but could feel the sore core from the morning. Once the tempo started, got after it and was anaerobic 2 minutes in- from that point it was a slow fade. Got dropped by .7 in and at that stage, was just everything not to stop after the mile mark as I was gassed, lactic, and just knew not only was I not running fast but was just gassed. Thankfully managed to struggle bus through another mile- ended up going 5:20/:5:50 (11:10) which is laughable for a hard tempo but I accomplished what I needed to out of the effort which was to hurt for 11 minutes. Easy jogging back to campus.

Not going to put too much stock into it- taking 6 days off last week and only running 3 of the last 14 days definitely plays a part, plus I'd imagine we went out sub 5 pace so I just shocked my system into being lactic and just faded the rest of the way. Still- good reference for rough pace goals for this weekend realizing that 5:30 pace is probably race pace for a 5k at this stage.
