HH HM Inter W6 Saturday
10K race
Since I couldn't find a 10K anywhere near me, I mapped out my own - the Close to Home 10K - and ran it. My goal was to break 55 minutes, even though the McMillan calculator suggested that I could run it in 52:56. I felt like that might be a push, but I set my Garmin to help me run it in 54:59 and pressed start. My lap times were:
Mile 1 8:38
Mile 2 8:58 (all uphill)
Mile 3 8:38
Mile 4 8:33
Mile 5 8:49
Mile 6 9:01 (large uphill)
Last .21 1:44
Finishing time 54:22
Now, according to my Nike+ I ran 6.54 miles in the same time which would mean my 10K time was 51:46. Don't know how it could be so far off, especially since the only 2 5k races I've worn my Nike+ for both measured at 3.09 and 3.1 miles. Pretty sure it's been accurate. Either way, I beat my previous best by anywhere from 5 minutes to 8 minutes.
