Hillsdale 5k. 2nd heat with Auckerman and Landon. Pretty chilly night, probably just below 40 when we raced, but at least the wind died down. A little bit of a frustrating race, but I fought for every second. Decided I was going to go out near the leaders and our first two laps were a 72 and 74. Ended up coming through the mile in around 4:57 and Landon joined me. We came through 2 miles right around 10:00-10:01. At this point I was starting to hurt, but I made it a goal to stay on Landon as long as possible. I was on him until about 1k to go. The last 1k, I just ran out of steam. Probably because the first 800-mile was a little too quick. It's like Al said, "I'm a 15:38-15:42 guy trying to go out at 15:25 pace, you are going to run 16:00 when that happens." Also it was kind of funny because Al told me I have the opposite problem of most people. I push the middle too much instead of just relaxing a little to save just enough for the end. I'm disappointed with the time as for some reason I just can't get under 16, but my effort was there. I literally gave everything my body had tonight and I competed to the best of my ability. I don't think I will be running conference in anything, but I'm hoping to maybe get 1 more 5k at Grand Valley in 2 weeks. I think I have learned now what I actually need to do to run the times I am capable of running. At least Landon and Auckerman both finally broke 16 and we had a slew of other guys run PRs, so all in all it was a good night!

P.S I'm pissed of running slow, but until I run smarter, I will not run faster...
