Northville half marathon. Not really a race, more of just a long, sustained effort. Just logging it as a race because it's the only serious half marathon I've ever done. My goal coming in was to run this whole thing at goal marathon pace. The course description said it was hilly and it lived up to it. I didn't realize that the entire way out was downhill though. I got sucked out and was running somewhere closer to half marathon pace than marathon pace. After I turned around, things got much tougher. The hills on the back half were pretty draining and I kind of just held on. They stick the largest hill with a mile to go and it was brutal! If i was running faster than 6:50 pace up it, I would be shocked. Went out in 36:53 and came back in 38:30, so I ran closer to goal marathon pace uphill and hurting. Tested out taking chews at mile 7 but I'm definitely going to stick to GU from here on out. Trying to chew while breathing heavy is tough! I was by myself from the gun and won by like 6-7 minutes. I think I broke the course record by close to 5 minutes too. Some people were telling me I revised their perspective of how quick someone could run on the course which is neat. Splits were 5:37-5:41-5:38-5:33-5:34-5:42-5:40-5:45-5:44-6:01-5:58-5:53-6:38 (1.1 miles).

Just attaching the link, so when I go back and look at this later, I'll remember how hilly this course was.
