We did a modified Michigan on the course. 1 mile, 400 jog, 10:00 tempo, 4 min jog, 1 km. Mile was 2 to 3 mile, the tempo was just around the course, and the 1 km was 4k to 5k. The first mile was pretty good. I felt smooth, but the wind on the stretch from the turn to the gate was horrible. I felt we really got through that strong. The 10:00 tempo seemed to drag. The last 2:00 felt like forever, but I felt we went the right pace for our group. The 1km is where I should have been tougher. We started out pretty quick and I was looking to settle, but Auckerman just kept surging and I wanted to watch my effort level, so I backed off. With 300 to go though, I felt fine and started surging to get back up. I should have just toughed it out and kept with the group as I finished the kilometer with a lot left. No one timed that kiolmeter, but some people in the group thought it was a little faster then the mile, so that would be a low 3:00 km and I was about 5 seconds back, so 3:07 seems to be a good guess. Still a solid workout and a lot better then my last Michigan workout and my legs are feeling better each day! One more week to get ready to run my best race at Conference!!
