M-pace run. A lot of us got moved up into group 1 today. We started off at a decent pace with the first loop being in 11:38. Then the 2nd loop we went 11:42 which Brendan and I lead the first mile of. I know some of the top guys felt we could have gone a little faster on that loop but if we were going to do 8 miles maybe taking the 2nd loop a little more conservative wouldnt hurt. Then the third loop i could tell we were beggining to go faster but i was feeling pretty good overall. Then coming into the woods Alekh and Bushie put in a big surge that split the group into Drew, Mark, Alekh, Bushie, and I and left everyone else about 10 secs back. I started feeling it after this surge. We came through the third loop in 11:10. Drew stopped and Steen asked me how i felt and i replyed tired because thats truly how i felt. He said stop and then we will do the turnaround thing with them. Overall very happy. This is not only the fastest i have ever done 6 but i was able to stay up with Mark and Alekh for all 6. Remember the first m-pace i tried to go with these guys but dropped at 5 miles. It really shows that i have gotten better over the summer. I was talking to drew before we went for the turnaround and me and him both agreed we could have gone with Mark and Alekh, but probably at about mile 7 we would have dropped because they went 10:50 for there last lap, or me and Drew would have to have pushed this more into a thresehold area and i know that is not the point of an m-pace run. Run feeling uncomfortable but dont try to kill yourself. I would like to try go with Mark, Alekh, and Taylor next time for the whole 8 miles. Even if I drop at mile 7 I will have the statisfaction of knowing I tried because if never hurts to just try it. Just have to be smart about it, I dont want to kill myself, but if I feel good coming into the last loop I would like to give it a shot.
