Interesting workout today. The original workout was 10 minute tempo then 1000-600-300 on the track 600 jogging recovery. No track in the general area was available for one reason or another. Marshall thought a middle school track in Grandville would be available. Sure enough we went there and a lacrosse game was going on. We tried the high school, but a soccer game was going on. At that point we said screw it and tried to imitate the workout the best we could on the roads. Our new workout was a 10 minute tempo then 3-2-1 w/2:00 jog in between each. We went to this mall Marshall's high school team used to do workouts around. I told Aukerman and Marshall the point of the tempo was to get the heart rate up then we needed to really hit the fartlek hard. Aukerman had his GPS watch going and said he was 6.18 after everything, so I figure I was 6.3 total (4.2 plus or minus a little bit on this part) considering I dropped Aukerman by a decent amount on the tempo and each fartlek leg. Tempo started off good, just built into it and felt relaxed pretty much the whole time. Mapped that out and it looked like it was a 5:30 average which was perfect for this workout. We jogged for 3:00 before the fartlek.The fartlek I just tried to hammer and get in a good effort. I was pretty tired by the end, so I think I got the job done. The last 3:00 of the tempo and all of the fartlek legs were completely solo. We couldn't control any track being open, so I think we did the best we could. Marshall had a pretty solid workout.
