Original Ann Arbor Turkey Trot 5k. Came back to this race for the sole purpose of winning the frozen turkey again for Friendsgiving next Saturday. Anyways, with it being about 30 out, got out smooth, nothing crazy. About a half mile in, this guy surged from the back up to me and tried to put a step or two into me coming into the mile mark. I think we were around 5:05 although I didn't pay much attention. Going up the one hill on this course, he just died. No clue why he took it out that hard for him but oh well. Lagged pretty the 2nd mile without competition and only kicked it back into gear once I came through two miles in 10:23. Never liked the finish of this race with the loose gravel and grass but finished in 16:08. Was really hoping to at least break 16 again considering I ran 15:49 last year and the weather was nicer this year. Last year, I put in a lot more 5k work before this while this has been off of barely any 5k work. Kind of more of a rust buster if I end up racing the Naperville Turkey Trot in 10 days. Hope that time is faster if I do race. I'm better than this time. At least I got that 15lb turkey I desired.
