Notes

MIAA Jamboree at Adrian. Ignore the time, the course was super slow and it was about 75-80 degrees at race time (which is really funny considering I ran 6 seconds faster the knight invite). In fact, some girls passed out in the girls race. Anyway, we started a little more conservative this week with the heat and our pack came through the mile in 5:10. From there I don't know anymore splits. I felt good the first 4k, but the last 4k was tough (the course was the same 4k loop twice). We worked much better this time compared to knight invite and that really helped the second 4k. I took 20th overall and was 11th on our team for the day. I had a solid kick and Auckerman really helped me push that last 200 meters. Al talked to us afterwards and told us that we both have more left. He felt that we could have made our move with Andre and stuck and ran closer to 27:00 flat. This was a lot better then knight invite and good step in the right direction. We also had the top 5 freshman in the conference and that's with Drew and Schaap having an off day and an injured Rylaarsdam. We could possibly have the best 7 freshman! The course ran about 1:00 slower then our home course, so 26:19 at Gainey is where I think I should be for an 8k based off my 4 mile time trial. Next Friday is Notre Dame. I am not sure if I will be going or not, but I hope I can so I can get the experience of running in a big invite against a lot of top teams in all NCAA divisions!
