Notes

MIAA Jamboree at Hope today. For the course being a flat golf course this course never runs that fast for some reason. Probably because it has a lot of tight turns and it's pretty wet in the morning. Tired not to think of my congestion at all (really this should have been no excuse as Philipose was way more sick then me and got 2nd today). Got out in a nice position, just sitting off our main pack which was going out a bit more conservative. I don't know exact mile split, but something around 5:10 I believe. Got into my rhythm and only other split I knew was 3 mile at 15:55. Was running fairly well going into the last 3k loop and was passing a good number of people. On the last 3k loop I made one too many surges though. I surged to catch up to this pack in front of me then when surge around almost every turn to drop people. Eventually took it's toll and the last half mile was pretty rough. I ran a decent race. I had a good one going until that last half mile. The coaches were proud with the way I raced, but I know I'm better. I feel like I kind of let the D-squad down today by not placing higher when I should have. 33rd in the conference is not where I belong considering I ran almost the whole race in the top 25. I ran about the same as Knight Invite, so it was consistent effort. I placed 12th on the team again and was about 1:30 behind Wicki. They may or may not take me to Notre Dame, we will see. I want to race there to get a little bit of redemption. It's odd when the coaches genuinely think you ran a good race, but you yourself don't believe you ran a good one, usually it's the other way around. We crushed it as a team overall going 1-2-3-6-10, so that's a positive. Still things to work on, but it's good to see some consistency there and I still feel like I am on the upswing.
