Hilly trail half marathon at Pickney this morning. I had no idea how this was going to go but I just wanted to use this as a long effort. Went out with leader but he was flying. Our first 4 miles were all sub-6 on hilly trails. I didn't feel like doing that, so backed off. I was about 90 seconds ahead of 2nd most of the race while 1st was about a minute ahead of me. I stopped to poop for 20 seconds but everything was going well. I was in a rhythm and just going up and down all the hills. Everything was fine and dandy until I hit about 9.5 miles. A jeep was blocking the flags marking a turn and I completely blew by it. It wasn't until I got to the end the road that I realized I had missed it and had to double back. That added on about 4 minutes and dropped me to 5th and that's where I ultimately finished in 1:28:55 overall. The hills got really rough by the end but it built some good strength. Solid effort and besides the missed the turn, it was a really fun time!

The dude who won ran right around 81 flat which was really impressive for a race with 1200ft of elevation change.
