Conference finals at home. Very cold for the race, around 32 at race time. Was feeling good and feeling positive before the race. Got out where I needed to be and heard 5:05 for the first mile (have since found out it was more around 5:00 which was too fast). Was with Schaap+Landon, Mason, and Jordan. Was yo-yo'ing for awhile, but made a decision. At 5k, I just decided I needed to get back up with those guys and I made a big surge from 5k-6k to get there. It ended up hurting me in the final kilometer, but I was proud I did that. Today was ok overall. I ran a more complete race here than I did at Oshkosh (this is probably coverts to faster than what I ran at Oshkosh). I ran 70 seconds faster than last years conference finals. It was not a fast day overall, but I am better than 42nd in the MIAA. My PR would have placed me around 14th today. I was happy I stayed positive though and fought the whole way. Finished right next to Schaap, Landon, Mason, Jordan, and Mark. I still need to finish cross country seasons stronger. It's improving, but I was hoping to have been at least around 26:30 today (given conditions, competition, etc.). The only splits I know are that first mile and that I was 13:10 at 4k. We won as a team, but it was not a good team day overall. We need to get back to the drawing board as we have a real battle with Wabash in two weeks. Pretty pumped for track though. Improving 66 seconds this year in cross shows that I am in for something special in track!
