Mile at the race at state open. My last race in a NV uniform :( . I have not run a competive mile since indoor conference and I had be training for the 800 for the past month, so I was not sure if I could go under 4:30. The first lap felt slow and it was a 67.high, so I was off pace. Some kid took the lead and went 66.high and we came through in 2:14.mid, which was slower then I wanted. From here I took the lead through a 67.low. O started pushing it from 300 out and two kids went with me. I ended up getting third in my heat and closed in a 65.xx (my dad took a video, so I got splits from that). I am happy as it is a 3 sec PR and I finished a season on a high note. I will always think of two things though. I seeded myself at 4:31, which missed the fastest heat by a second and they went out in 2:12-2:13, which is what I wanted to go out in, so I could have possibly run faster in that heat. State qualifying was 6 seconds away and if I had keep training for the mile, I believe I had a chance at making state in the mile. Things played out the way they did and I cant change that. Onto to Calvin and hopefully some more success at the collegiate level!
