Notes

5k at GVSU. After this race Diemer and I think I have either over trained this winter, have low iron, or my body is still fighting and not recovered from my past 2 weeks of sickness. I honestly believe I have low iron. The workout went well this week, I finally feel good again (as I feel 100% healthy). I was 4:58-10:08 and feeling comfortable clicking off 75s for most of it. I felt like I was ready to pick it up and close well and I hit a wall. I can't get my legs to go fast at all. Even on the last lap, I physically can't get my legs to move any faster. At this point low iron makes sense. I am going to get a blood test asap. I had one my junior year of high school and I was fine. I was fine performance wise in cross country, but I started examining my diet during the winter after the race and I realized I have not gotten a good source of a lot of iron (like red meat) in awhile (it was funny because I had a burger after the meet). I take a vitamin with iron during breakfast, but I also drink milk and if the calcium is inhibiting that uptake that could be a problem. Hopefully I can get some answers soon. It's frustrating. Diemer said next week I am just going to do easy runs and strides everyday. It could also be remnants from my past 2 weeks of sickness, but based on how I feel now I don't think that is it.

On a side note: The rest of the team ran really well tonight. Even though I am not running well, it's exciting to see our team competing and finishing at/near the top of every race.
