Army 10 Miler - Team RTX, 13th Women... what a zoo!

For some reason the race ppl decided to give us all Wave 10 bibs, we were able to switch them for Wave 3 bibs but that meant we weren't supposed to start the race until 8:10 when the start of the race went off at 8am....we were also told we had an RTX tent so went on quite the journey to find our tent... turned out it was by the finish line, so we have to walk passed the start and hop over two highway dividers to get there ... took way longer than we thought so only really had time for short WU (was at like 4 mi of walking/running), luckily since we were passed the corral zone we were able to hop back over the 2 dividers and merge into the wave 1 runners (hiding in the middle to not get stopped as being in the wrong wave but looked like a lot of ppl did this as well) ... gun went off, was about 10 sec before I crossed line and then a lot of weaving for 1200m, went thru the mile 5:57 and it felt good, weather was perfect,

I know that I have the weird (maybe just lack of fitness or maybe nutrition) thing where I will all of a sudden revert to 6:30 pace so told myself that if I could hold 6 flat pace for 5-6 mi it would be ok, had no problem hitting 5:58-6:02 for the next 4 miles, like didnt even look at my watch and then during mile 6 was maybe looking a lil too much at the leaders and cheering for the RTX guys on the out and back stretch but clicked off like a 6:30 mile and knew that switch had been flipped... really tried to fight back the next mile but still was 6:10-15 ish and just never recovered ... wanted to kick but some wind/overpass areas zapped my legs and just maintained

Happy this was the same pace as lone gull and 3.8 mi longer but just wished I could held the 6 flat longer, like when it happens I dont feel like I'm hurting I just cant go any faster , maybe I'll try with taking a gel for a race over 5 mi and see if that helps or maybe ill just keep getting a little fitter and slowly the 6/6:30 line will move back, do notice that my HR looks like it also flipped same time my pace did which is strange
