We were out in La Clusaz for the Dalberg Europe retreat, and a few of us were able to sneak out in the afternoon for a run in the mountains. It was beautiful and we had amazing views from the ski slopes down into the valley, but it was a tough run. James had said we would do an initial climb and then traverse - but somehow we never started traversing. I dropped the group pretty quickly as we headed up a steep climb, and in the 3 miles I did before I turned around I climbed 2,000ft. Then went back the way I came and sped up considerably, doing mid-to-low-6:00 miles down the hill and back to the car. Already then I could feel the exhaustion in my quads...
