Notes

I had to get out early this morning and I could only run once today because I needed to go to the city for the afternoon to apply for Finnish citizenship and then to have dinner with 2006 HGXC varsity team, which got together for the first time since all of the '08 class graduated. I decided to do something a little different and, because today's workout was some efficiency running on the track, I warmed up for the 3 mi to HG from home, did the workout, and then did my cool down back home which saved a bunch of time (even though, with the hills, it's not the easiest route for warm up or cool down). The workout was 6x400m at date mile pace, with equal distance recovery jog. I ran my quarters in 72, 71, 70, 71, 72, and 70. It was tough getting the legs to do that because I haven't really gotten them, churning like that yet this summer, and it didn't make it any easier that I chose to wear my trainers and not flats/spikes, but it felt pretty solid and the 400m recovery jog definitely helped (though I didn't take that super slow). All in all a solid workout that I think will be good for jump starting my legs and not letting them go flat, and the fact that I only ran once for the day should help with recovering and getting ready for the rest of the week.
