I did a steady state run this evening that went really well. I did the same loop as last week but made it a little longer, going through the Girl Scout camp and then up the hill past Briarcliff HS to Choate, then heading into Pleasantville and up past the Jacob Burns all the way to 117 which I took up to the top of King St to add a mile to last week's route, then headed down the hill and home via 120. I had decided to do a 45 min steady state regardless of pace, which was a bit longer than last week, and I felt really good for this. Checking the distance later on mapmyrun it turned out that I did 7.67 mi in the 45 min which means I was averaging about 5:53 pace for the workout. I was pleased to see that I dropped 10 sec/mi from last week's workout while maintaining it for slightly longer this time. I was feeling really strong and though I was obviously tired when I finished I was by no means exhausted and could definitely have kept going which is also great to see. All in all a solid workout that I'm very pleased with.
