Notes

Headed out to the track this morning for a great workout. I did Pete's classic Columbus Day weekend workout - two sets of eight quarters. First set is consistent paces (I held about 74-75), with decreasing rest (60, 60, 50, 50, 40, 30, 20). Second set is consistent rest (45 seconds) with each rep faster than the last (I hit 75, 74, 73, 72, 71, 69, 68, 66). It was definitely a challenging workout, and I was really pleased with my consistency and speed toward the end. I was also pleased, though, that it wasn't nearly as killer as I remembered it being from before. Maybe I should have pushed the first set harder, but I almost found that I had too much rest for the first couple of reps! Cool sign of my aerobic ability right now. And great to work on some speed here - hoping that getting the legs moving faster on things like this can also help bring down my pace on the longer stuff.. Cooled down with a barefoot mile on the infield, and then back home.

(Note that for last week's track workout, I logged the whole thing as having been done in my trainers, though I used flats on the track. To compensate, this full workout is logged in the flats, though of course I warmed up and cooled down in the trainers.)
