Today officially kicks off getting serious about training for Boston - as well the Hypothermic half is in a couple of weeks and if the weather is ok I might want to run it hard. As a result, I felt it was time to get an assessment of my current fitness by running my long run at a more uptempo pace.
2 mile warm up at 7:39 min / mile
12 miles at 7:06 min / mile
2.5 mile cool down at 8:45 min / mile
My main goal this year is to be able to run a sub3 marathon (6:52 min/mile). Given that I was able to hold 7:06 for 12 miles at a comfortably uncomfortable pace I am encouraged. I just need to get my weight down from my present 182 to about 170... that alone might be all I need.
