2nd Road Race of the year (in 2 Weeks)
Race start and finishes at the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs Regency Furniture Stadium
Course: New & Old Sections of St Charles to White Plains on down to La Plata; Radio Station Road; Tough Hills on 488 and then a winding back road to the stadium finish line
Bottom Line: Finished in 1.24.40; 43 out of 171 finishers and 5th in (geezer) Age Group; Beat last week's 10 mile race time by 6 minutes; New 10 mile PR;
The Race: Started fairly strong and stayed that way...held steady until a little dip in pace on the Route 488 hills...passed many runners; was passed after 5K and targeted runner but couldn't catch him...strong finish by three ladies in front of me sped me up...held off a late charge by a runner I didn't know was there!
Post-Race: Rockin' Race Premium...Argentina Blue in color...Ben tagged along and saw his friends the Halls...CHS runner "Iron Man" ran the 5K...Hung out at Blue Crabs Open House for games and complimentary beer...
Recovery: Molson Ice; Peruvian lunch from Chicken Rico in Waldorf...
Fun race; a little surprised by turnout on the light side...White Plains/Pkwy area totally changed since my time in the area (1980s)!
Feeling charged by recent runs and racing...five weeks until next race (Trail Half Marathon)...use time to recover and build mileage
