Notes
Hey everybody,
I haven't been around here for a while and I've also been slacking off with my training which is why I was so surprised with my final result in my first 5K last weekend.
It was a night run, starting at 7:45 p.m. so I didn't really know what to expect and I also wasn't too sure about strategy in terms of pacing since it was my first time running the distance. I decided to forget about strategy and just run as fast as I could for as long as possible. I was wearing my HRM and I looked down at my watch and one point and I was like, "Holy cow" (I think I used a word that I can't say on these forums. I was surprised to see that my heart rate was 205! I just kept going though because I only had another 10 minutes or so remaining at my current pace. When it was all said and done, I was pleasantly shocked to cross the finish line with a total time of 21:08! It was a fun race, I think I'd like to try more 5Ks in the future. It was a great event and there was a free barbecue at the finish line - well not really free, I guess that's we paid for, but the entry free was a reasonable price.
Here are my splits:
1 - 4:00
2 - 4:17
3 - 4:16
4 - 4:22
5 - 4:08
Oh yeah, I also ran my main event that I've been training for today, the half-marathon and I PR'ed in that by about 4-5 minutes! I'll post that report soon.
