Boston University Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener 5k 14:45.10 for 147th/200.

Wild race... My main goal was sub 15 and so for that reason I am definitely excited with today. The race went out slow ~71 high. I might have panicked at this point and made a large pass on the tUrN and passed 4/5 people to go into 3rd tucked in behind second (first place had broken away in the first lap but got reeled in around the 1k). We were clicking off 34/35s like it was our job for quite some time, 4:39 though 1600, 8:47 through 3k, 9:23 through 3200. Then the wheels kinda came off... The leaders coach had been yelling at him to pick up the pace for quite some time but he finally decided to around 3200. I started to fall off and got passed by about 5 people running a 3:03 4th k :/ I rallied (mostly in the last (400) and closed in a 2:55 1k. I don't have 200m splits for the last 2k for some reason but the last lap wasn't anything super fast ~31/32 if I had to guess.

Looking back I know I can run faster. Around 2k in I knew I had sub 15 as long as nothing tragic happened and I think because of this I lost focus. Next race I need to be more patient as well as remain engaged and mentally focused in the later stages of the race.
