Notes

Cape Cod Marathon 2:30:47 first overall.

No expectations going into this, kinda just sent it. Only goal was qualify for Boston 2024 and I seeded myself at 2:45. Course was very windy, 24+ mph, but almost no hills and a lot of it was right along the coast.

My pace strategy was just to run as "smooth" as possible and after 2 miles there was just 2 of us in the front. He felt the need to tell me that this was his 121st marathon and he had won about ~75 of them. I picked up the pace right around the 3 mile mark because I noticed it had slowed (5:45 second mile) and led the rest of the race solo. Running was FREE the first 21 miles and then it was probably the most difficult thing I have ever done the last 5. Parts of my body just started shutting down and/or spazzing randomly (right calf, hip, shoulder). Took 4 GUs with me but couldn't stomach the last one and even water and Gatorade after mile 21 were coming right back up. The last 3 miles where straight into a headwind and it was debatable if I had any forward motion at times. Laid on the ground after finishing and they forced me to go to the medical tent, my temperature was 94 so they kept trying to feed me hot soup but that would have come right back up. Glad I did it but I think imma stick to 5k/8ks for a while longer.

10 mile split 56:00, 13.1 split 73:16
