28:19.5 8km @Spartan Grand Classic. Plan was to get out pretty conservatively because I was sick all week, and I wasn't expecting a PR or anything, just wanted a strong race. Got out in 5:36.8 and felt like I should through the mile legs just weren't as strong as usual. Ran with Owen Through the 2 mile (5:48.0) and three mile (5:42.0). Started to pick it up after that, as from 3 mile to finish I ran 11:12.8. Really upped the gear coming out of the woods and made up some serious ground. Decent race today considering everything. Played it super conservative, first 4k was 14:16 next was 14:03, the conditions weren't great it was super rainy and muddy, especially the second loop, and I've been sick all week. Didn't really feel like I was racing until the last mile, probably too controlled of an effort. Definitely could have turned out worse. Enjoyed racing in real xc conditions, never had a super muddy/rainy xc race before.
