Notes

Good run. Placed 9th overall, 6 spots ahead of my seed and by time, I would have won the slower heat. So a very good race.

1) Ran with Brendan and two other guys. Brendan hung off my shoulder basically the entire way up to about 500-600 to go. I ended up switching positions with the other guys because we were all starting to hurt a bit.

2) Very surge heavy race. I didn't do my usual drop in behind and just cruise from there. It's a strategy that worked to keep my focus, but I'm not sure if it helped my pace at all.

3) Started to lose my pace at about lap 14 and then only sort of recovered in the kick. That midrace is when I need to be holding strong, but I'm struggling with that. I'm not sure how I would improve that, but the workouts should do wonders.

4) Fueling was good. Had a yogurt before the bus, bagel and granola bar on the bus and then a handful of animal crackers before the race. Having the first race is super nice.

5) This is potentially the closest I've been to a current PR without getting a new one. It's a nice little bit of redepmtion after last week.

6) Second time under 17 minutes!

Overall, it's hard to complain about this race. After all, 9th overall with missing a new PR by 1 and a half seconds. Not too shabby.
