Notes
This was my first actual tempo-type run. The plan was to warm up, run one lap comfortably hard, run second lap at same or faster pace, cool down. I was only able to run the first lap this time. I need to work up to this workout. My plan is:
1/1-1/22 - one lap (2 miles) comfortably hard
1/2-2/19 - two laps (1.5 miles each)
2/26 -> two laps (2+ miles each)
I didn't get the lap function quite right on my Garmin. My splits were:
Distance -- Time -- Pace -- Function
0.89 -- 9:21.12 -- 10:31 -- Warm up
1.86 -- .16:43.85 -- 9:00 -- Comfortably Hard
0.74 -- 7:22.98 -- 9:59 -- Cool Down
Something interesting to note is that my pace increased throughout the comfortably hard lap. Maybe if I can control my pace a bit more, I could run a slower first lap to save energy for the second. Or, it could be that I was still warming up during the beginning of the lap.
It's also cool to see that my comfortably hard is my goal HMP.
