Notes

On the go since 5:30am, so I couldn't wait to get out the door when I got home. It was dark, a mix of rain snow and sleet, about 30 degrees, but no wind. My world consisted of the 10 foot radius of light given off by my headlamp. Other than that, it was pitch black. You could see distant specks of lights from other houses, some of which were due to Christmas lights. Since the air was so still, your steamy breath hung in the air, lit up by the headlamp. One car passed me the whole run, and I got annoyed that it broke the stillness and darkness. Toward the end of the run, the precipitation was mostly sleet, which felt like little knives cutting into my face, and made a pinging sound as it bounced off my jacket and the road. When I stopped at the end to walk, steam started pouring off my body, and suddenly I was surrounded by a cloud. I really enjoyed the quiet solitude of this run. You need times like this. It's like sleep... when you don't get it, it affects the rest of your life.
