Fun in the sun. A hot one out there today for my lunchtime run. luckily a breeze was blowing to help things out a bit. I figured it would be a good day to run to the lake, take a dip, and run back. We used to do the same sort of thing in college for our x/c workouts.... except the runs were a lot farther and faster back then. En route, I got a call from my buddy Dave to run. He lives near the lake so that worked out perfect, we hooked up for a few miles. The lake is still darn cold, you hyperventilated when getting wet, but it felt really good to splash around for a bit. Ran back on the powerlines trail, which was nice except for the part where I had to wade through a flooded section, and running past a flock of wild turkeys hiding in the low brush along the trail. They all decided to come squawking out at once when I was about 10 feet away from them, scaring the crap outta me. Yes, turkeys can fly if they want to. Still in recovery mode from Boston for this week, increasing the miles a bit but still keeping the effort easy.
