My first marathon. Very happy with the time, was hoping for 3:10 best case. Carb loaded for 3 days prior, gained 2.5/3 lbs, took 5 gels for the race plus water or gator aid at every aid station. The long runs 3-4 weeks out plus a well-executed taper made all the difference. Really didn't think I could make it past 20 miles without fading, but I did, and was even able to speed up the last mile and sprint past another runner in the final stretch to the finish. I passed about 5 or 6 runners from 16 to the end, and was passed by two. I got tired, but never ran out of gas.
Course was gravel, first two miles are through an old train tunnel, start to finish is a gentle down-hill grade all the way.
M55-59 A/G, 1st place, Overall 23 of 391.
