"Freeze Your Fanny" 5K race today, 3rd place over-all, 1st place masters 40+. Weather co-operated so I drove down to Lewiston and raced this - skipped it last year due to snow. Temp about 39, no wind, wet from rain overnight, nice humidity, easy breathing, air was a bit smoggy from the Potlatch mill. Scott Mc. was first place, Dan Fr. was second, so us Pullman guys took top three. Doug J was not there; he was probably out doing a long run to get ready for Boston. I led the race for the first mile, then dropped to 4th position, but #3 guy (age 42) showed signs of weakness just after 2 miles, so I caught him, stayed there for a bit, then passed him and kept going. Took 3rd over-all and beat him by 23 seconds. Ran in the Mizuno Wave Universes, no inserts, feet seem to be OK with that today. Calves started cramping up afterwards while standing around waiting for the awards, probably due to getting cold? So I didn't go run a few more miles as I had planned.
